The 10 Gaming Commandments

We created a video game ministry in our church this year and to help with keeping the kind of culture we want in our gaming center we came up with rules everyone has to obey.  But we didn’t just want harsh cold “pool rules” where no one even looks at them.  We wanted something fun and easy to point to to keep the peace.  So we came up with the 10 Gaming Commandments.  And then we spend quite a bit of money to design them as posters and to hang them predominantly on our wall.  So whoever someone forgets we can politely point to the posters to help them get back on track.  You can come up with any rules on your own these are just the ones we came up with.  If you would like a digital copy of our commandments (above) we do have them for sale for $20 and you get both illustrator files (5 commandments on each).  They can be printed on a 3×3 poster-size canvas if you wish (but printing is on your own).  Just email us at info@usmbnextgen.com. Below is a more detailed description of our rules.

The 10 Gaming Commandments

1: God Above All

Everything we do is to honor God our Father.

2: Play Like Jesus Would

We are to show love and respect to competitors, the staff, teammates, and ourselves at all times.  We will know the difference between fun trash talking and insulting.

3: Don’t Complain

Games are a privilege not a right, we are to do our best not to create bitterness or division.

4: Play With Purpose

We’re all on the same team, we are to help those who don’t know how to play and bring them along.

5: Two Plays, Then Pass

A house rule of ours.  If someone is waiting in line after two games (win or lose) pass your controller to the next player in line.

6: Rage Quit, You Quit

We play for fun!  Be careful with equipment.  You break it you buy it.

7: You Shall Not Steal

No one is allowed to leave the room with any equipment.

8: Ask Permission

Don’t bring any outside games or equipment without permission

9: Games Are For Friends

Feel free to invite friends to join our community

10: Return to Start

Return all equipment to the proper place and clean up when finished.
